"The hotel is brand new, and both its facilities and the surrounding area are great. The room features a separate toilet and bathroom, with the shower and bathtub also thoughtfully partitioned. There's also a spacious public bath on-site, though I didn't get around to using it. You'll find various dining options and convenience stores close by. JR Sagano Line's Umekoji-Kyotonishi Station is incredibly convenient (with trains roughly every ten minutes, just one stop from Kyoto Station), and both the Kyoto Railway Museum and a community park are within 200 meters. Despite this central location, it's surprisingly quiet. (Photo 4, taken from the Kyoto Railway Museum's top floor, offers a good glimpse of the hotel's neighborhood). During our visit, we were also lucky enough to experience the local community's Tanabata Summer Festival (Photo 5). This hotel is truly ideal for a tourist stay. It was, without a doubt, the best hotel experience I had during my entire trip to Japan."

"I felt super lucky to snag this hotel in September 2025 on a Friday night for just USD $70 a night (including accommodation tax)—probably about one-third of the usual price.
We booked a twin room, and by Japanese standards it was really spacious. I could fully open my 28-inch suitcase without blocking the walkway. The bathroom had a separate shower and bathtub, which was great. Funny thing—the two beds had noticeably different firmness levels, so if you’re traveling as a pair, I’d suggest testing them out first and picking the one that suits you best.
The room had a mini-fridge (no freezer), plus a capsule coffee machine and bottled water. If you need more water, the front desk will happily provide extra.
On the 3rd floor, the executive lounge offers cookies, candies, and soft drinks from 2pm, along with red and white wine. In the evening, they even have a free marshmallow roasting experience by the fireplace—it was super cozy.
The location couldn’t be better—right in the heart of Kyoto’s shopping area, just a 5-minute walk from Kawaramachi Station Exit 1A. In front of the hotel, there’s a big artificial lawn where you’ll often see people hanging out and relaxing."

"The service was excellent; the front desk staff were very welcoming and even offered complimentary spa baths and bar access. The views are great, and you can easily walk to many peaceful attractions from here. It's also very close to the subway station, and they provide a free shuttle service to Kyoto subway station. "Enjoyed the racing of laundry machines daily while I was there, there are always many people waiting to use it.
Anyway, generally a very cosy hotel. The rooms are not big, but not as small as Tokyo’s same price point.
Breakfast menu doesn’t change, except for their Kyoto dessert of the day. Maybe they do change their menu, but at least not that I know of, I was there for a total of 5 days
P.s: There’s a clam ramen stall just beside the hotel that’s always queueing. Pls don’t queue, it’s really not fantastic. If the queue is less than 5 people, that means it will probable be 30-40mins, you can give it a try. Otherwise, don’t bother. It’s not worth it."

"With our family of five down the mountain near the hotel price is too expensive, we accidentally found this room type, room is large, the price is close to the people, suitable for us. To reach the front desk and room, you need to climb the stairs (may be a remodeled old building, but very Japanese style).
Since we drive by ourselves, we need to walk for3-5 minutes from the free parking space, but the luggage is large (next to Hankyu Busan Station), the handsome and beautiful staff are very dedicated to helping with the luggage to the room, and the Lobby puts a lot of Busan tourism information, (just happened to be summer festival, there are also Japanese nostalgic traditional gadgets for passengers.
Overall, the hotel is close to the residential house but the room is very large and you can see the mountain. The environment is very comfortable and quiet. The handsome and beautiful staff wrote the thank you card before leaving the store, which made us feel sweet."

There is floor heating downstairs, making a living room, and you can sleep on the tatami floor at night. The upstairs living room faces the river view and the bedroom has two single beds. GGuest UserThe hotel is next to Sanzen-in Temple, and is a Japanese inn style. It was a bit cold to stay at night in December. The area is not large. I wanted to see the red leaves of Sanzen-in Temple, but they were almost fallen when I arrived on the 5th. If you want to experience it, just stay for one night. Overall, it is not as convenient and comfortable as a star hotel. Breakfast and dinner are not bad, but not amazing. Take it as a Japanese cultural experience.

The private in-room hot spring is wonderfully relaxing. The hotel boasts a fantastic location – a tranquil oasis amidst a lively area. Just a heads-up: shoes must be removed inside the rooms. I would absolutely choose to stay here again on my next visit to Kyoto!

LLiujingyanWe chose a large corner room with windows on both sides. The hotel building has a history of more than 200 years. The location is great. It is right at the entrance of Kiyomizu Temple Commercial Street. It is quiet in the bustling city. The hotel is very quiet and elegant, with high-end decoration, complete facilities and excellent service!
Breakfast is served in a library-style restaurant, which is very special. I highly recommend Japanese breakfast. Everyone thinks it is high-end Japanese cuisine when they post it on WeChat Moments. There are also vegetarian and children's meal options for breakfast. I also strongly recommend the window seat in the executive lounge. Drink Japanese tea or Japanese whiskey in the afternoon and look at the quaint buildings outside. It is worth the effort!

MMy WanderlistI had an excellent stay at Fauchon. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality. The hotel staff were also incredibly attentive and polite throughout our stay.
My room was small but comfortable, featuring modern and luxurious amenities that were stylishly pink in colour and comfortable bedding. The attention to detail in the room was impressive, with thoughtful touches including a whole array of complimentary cookies and cake. Breakfast was served as a set menu and selection was limited and basic but expertly prepared and presented.
The hotel's location was also perfect for me because it is situated right in the heart of Kyoto yet away from the crowded spots with excellent access to public transportation. The bus station is right in front of the hotel, the nearest train station is about 10 mins walk and the hotel is approx 15 mins walk to Kawaramachi Street (shopping area). Just behind our hotel is the river and all the restaurants. Our room has the mountain view.

IInna70Top end hotel of all we tried while traveling around Japan. Large room, spacious bathroom, good quality beds and pillows.
Convenient central Kyoto location, next to subway station and in close proximity to many local attractions. If you a keen runner, there is a beautiful run and walking route around the river and map is provided by hotel.
Breakfast was reasonable prices with good verity of both western and Asian food. There was a separate Japanese breakfast restaurant but we were not confident enough to try it as we don’t know the routine and etiquette well enough. (First time in Japan)
We walked from the hotel to Geisha district and explored nearby parks. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from and a full street of souvenir shops.
Next door there is a spirit shop, which is not busy and this is where in a non crowded atmosphere I got good advice and bought a preferred bottle of Sake. Glad I did it in Kyoto because when we returned to Tokyo airport the choice was limited, all duty free shops were overcrowded by stressed tourists trying to buy gifts at last minute before departure.
Highly recommend this hotel for your stay.

GGuest UserGreat view as the other reviewers say! The room was very clean and a good size for 2 people. the amenities are good enough to accommodate the needs of ourselves. The front staff was friendly and got a nearby onsen voucher as well!
Overall it was a great experience at the hotel and I’d like to stay there again for the next Arashiyama trip!

I recently had the opportunity to stay at your hotel, and I would like to share my experience with you. First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude for the exceptional design and comfort your property offers. Kengo Kuma’s architectural brilliance, with its use of natural wood, thoughtful lighting, and integration of art pieces, creates a stunning and serene atmosphere. Additionally, the comfort of the rooms, the quality of the materials, the size of the beds, and the premium linens were truly impressive. In terms of design and comfort, your hotel sets a remarkable standard.
However, I did encounter several service-related issues that I believe could be addressed to enhance the overall guest experience. I would like to share these points in the hope that they are helpful for future improvements:
1. Breakfast Lounge and Sushi Area: The proximity of these two areas creates a strong odor upon entering, which can be unpleasant. Improved ventilation could easily mitigate this issue.
2. Food and Beverage Service After Breakfast: The lack of food and beverage service after breakfast hours was inconvenient. At the very least, providing a space for guests to enjoy tea or coffee would be a welcome addition.
3. Room Service Availability: After a long journey, I was surprised to learn that room service was unavailable and that only rice balls could be provided. Expanding room service options would greatly improve the guest experience.
4. Flexibility with Breakfast Hours: Due to the time difference, I arrived slightly late for breakfast at 10:10 AM and was informed that nothing could be served. Even my request for tea did not receive a clear response. Greater flexibility in accommodating guests dealing with jet lag would be highly appreciated.
5. Lobby Services: The inability to offer anything to drink or even host a guest in the lobby felt restrictive. This could be improved to make the lobby a more welcoming space.
6. Spa Experience: I was unable to experience the renowned Banyan Tree spa as it was fully booked. Expanding spa reservation availability would help meet guest expectations for this signature offering.
In summary, while the hotel excels in design and comfort, the service offerings seem to be constrained by rigid rules and limited hours, which can detract from the overall guest experience. I strongly believe that adopting a more flexible, guest-centered approach would significantly enhance satisfaction.
If the above issues were addressed, I would certainly consider staying at your hotel again during my next visit to Kyoto. Once again, I want to thank you for the exceptional design and comfort provided during my stay and hope that these suggestions contribute to further elevating your standards.

LLinh CCould have give it 5stars if the bathroom is clean and not smell urine so bad. Others than that breakfast was awesome, Customer service was top not, location is perfect to go everywhere. Also they said they have bus service every 15 minutes to Kyoto station which is not true, we waited forever 1.5 hours or so, but they never came. We saw others hotel busses came by several times. I didn’t confront this to the front desk tho. We was taxi everywhere and it was cheap, furthest would be 20 minutes taxi drive and about 3,000 yen which is reasonable.

__WeChat266072****Very good experience! At first, I chose the Hana Ryokan to experience the Japanese tradition, and it didn't disappoint.
The tatami room is large and clean, the bedding is very comfortable, and the sleep is very comfortable.
Although it is winter, the air conditioning in the room is great, and you won't feel cold sleeping directly on the tatami.
The toilet and shower are separate, both are very clean, and the Japanese-style bathroom is also unique. There is plenty of hot water, but it took a little time to figure out the shower when I debugged it at the beginning.
The location of the hotel is very good. It takes only three minutes to walk to Yasaka Shrine, less than 20 minutes to walk to the main street of Kawaramachi, and about 20 minutes to Kiyomizu Temple. There are a lot of food and shopping on the way, which will not make people feel tired of rushing. It is just that eating and shopping will indefinitely extend the time to the destination haha.
Kyoto is beautiful. I was very happy every day in Kyoto. After the daytime tour experience, returning to the hotel is a new enjoyment. Thank you Hana Ryo for giving us such a great experience, looking forward to seeing you next time!
