"Stayed here for 2 nights, but in two different rooms, so I got to experience both. Overall, the hotel has a great view and a generally comfortable stay. It is a bit far from most main attractions, although it is relatively close to the railway station. There is a nearby bus station (Line 6), but getting to the Ancient Town and other popular areas is still quite far, so using Didi is often the easier option. The lobby also provides tea, coffee, and water, which is a nice touch. My first room was on the 2nd floor and felt very modern and new. The bed was especially comfortable, and everything felt fresh and well-designed — I really liked this room. My second room was on the 5th floor, and there is no lift in the building, so carrying luggage up the stairs can be quite tiring. The staff kindly helped me, which I really appreciated, especially since it was quite a lot of effort. This room had a nice view, but it felt a bit older compared to the first one, especially the bathroom. If I had to choose, I personally preferred the first room for its newer feel and comfort, but both stays were still pleasant in different ways."

"The room was clean and tidy. It was really cold in Dali during the May Day holiday due to the rain, but luckily the air conditioning had a heating function, which was great! It's very close to the South Gate of Dali Ancient City, about a four-minute walk. The owner was incredibly warm and friendly, helping us carry our luggage both ways. When we left, they even gave us flower cakes!"

"This guesthouse was a real gem, easily a full five-star rating! The entire place is an elegant Bai-style courtyard, with quaint bridges and flowing water, creating a serene and refined atmosphere. Despite being right inside Dali Ancient City, it's completely shielded from the street noise, offering a rare sense of tranquility amidst the bustling area. It's incredibly convenient for exploring the ancient city on foot. We booked a mountain-view room with an exclusive terrace, and sitting there in the evening, enjoying the breeze, the view was so relaxing and truly set the perfect mood. The room was spotlessly clean, the bedding was neat and fresh, and the smart bathroom amenities were convenient and easy to use; all the hardware was very well-maintained. The owner was kind and thoughtful, and the check-in process was simple and smooth. They weren't intrusive at all, but were always quick to respond if we had any questions. Overall, the guesthouse has a strong ancient charm, quiet and healing. After a day of exploring the ancient city, returning to the courtyard was incredibly stress-relieving. The stay far exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and relaxing getaway in the ancient city."

"We travelled to Dali from Kunming by train. Before arriving, we called the hotel to arrange pickup from the station as we arrived late at 10pm. The hotel was fantastic as they arranged a driver to meet us. We booked the room with the 270 degree view. It was on the 4th and top floor with fantastic view of Erhai Lake. It had an outdoor area bigger than the room!. Although language was a barrier the staff went out of their way to help to make our stay very very pleasant. WeChat and Alipay is a must in Dali. The hotel is located inside a gated area and is very secure. Transport via Didi is easy and the hotel is close to town with train station only 20 minutes away."

"Dali is a beautiful city, and I had a fantastic stay at the Hampton by Hilton Dali Erhai during my trip. First off, the location is excellent. A short walk north takes you to Erhaiyue Wetland Park, and a leisurely stroll south leads to Xingsheng Bridge, the nearby Suoshui Pavilion, and Erhe Park – all popular spots for both locals and tourists to relax and take photos. The scenery is stunning with blue skies, white clouds, and lush green mountains, and the water is dotted with boats. Transportation is also very convenient. What truly stood out was the hotel's service: warm, friendly, proactive, and thoughtful. The facilities are modern and well-equipped. They even have robots to deliver water and meals! Plus, there's complimentary afternoon tea with white fungus soup and a variety of beverages. The rooms are well-designed with plenty of outlets, hangers, a fridge, and a microwave, all conveniently placed and very practical to use. Breakfast was rich and diverse, with delicious milk and soy milk, and a full range of local specialties. Since it was the Dragon Boat Festival, the restaurant also offered various flavors of Zongzi, including ham and pineapple. All in all, the Hampton by Hilton Dali Erhai offers excellent value for money and is highly commendable."

"Quiet, comfortable and a beautiful lakeside view A really lovely stay. The hotel and rooms were very clean with lots of nice features, and the lakeside view is simply beautiful. The staff were incredibly friendly and went above and beyond at every turn. They picked us up on arrival, and when we had an early train to catch and were worried about missing breakfast due to traffic, they reassured us, made sure we sat down and ate, and then dropped us off at the station so we made it on time. We did! On top of that, they welcomed us with a fruit basket and afternoon tea, and there’s even a nighttime milk drink on offer which was a sweet touch. For English speakers there can be a bit of a language barrier, but nothing a translation app can’t handle, and the staff went out of their way to print out a full set of recommendations in English for us, which was really thoughtful. The hotel is just a few minutes from the beautiful Erhai Park and some great restaurants, and it’s very quiet at night. We very much enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it. We would love to come back!"

GGuest UserI usually don't write reviews, but my stay here was exceptional. First off, the owner was incredibly thoughtful. They checked in with us beforehand about everything. Knowing we were driving an electric car, they even parked their own car in a charging spot to reserve it for us, ensuring we had immediate parking despite the tight parking situation in the area. Secondly, the room was fantastic. We booked a suite, and from the pictures, I thought one of the rooms would be small, but both were spacious. The cleanliness, facilities, and overall environment were truly impeccable. 90% of the time, hotel room pictures don't match reality, but theirs were spot on. Finally, let's talk about the location and service. Right outside, there's a whole street of street food, so you can find anything you want to eat. It's also very close to the South Gate. And again, the owner was wonderful and very attentive. We had a great chat, and after learning about my hobby, they even gave me a gift that's very precious to me. The two little cats are also super cuddly. All in all, I'm completely sold on this place. Couldn't ask for more.

GGuest UserI've lost count of how many times I've stayed at Meishan Inn. It's truly my favorite inn in Dali Ancient City! The location is superb, extremely close to all the fun spots around Renmin Road and the ancient city, yet it's incredibly quiet at night, not noisy at all. The owner's service is incredibly thoughtful and meticulous; any questions or requests are handled perfectly. The inn itself is beautifully decorated, making it a perfect place to unwind and relax. I could easily spend an entire afternoon doing nothing but sitting in the courtyard. I genuinely recommend everyone to stay here!

The location is ideal—within walking distance to the Old Town, plus there’s a free golf cart service. Erhai Lake is also just a short ride away. As for the food, the breakfast is served as a set menu. And we loved the free afternoon tea, fruits, and coffee. The room itself was clean, spacious, fully stocked, and had a lovely mountain view. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to stay close to the Old Town!

The courtyard is surrounded by greenery, with banana leaves and loquat trees arranged in a harmonious arrangement. The rooms are fully equipped with toiletries, and the beds are of high quality. The owner is attentive and considerate, proactively helping us with our luggage and always ready to assist us. If you’re looking for a place with an unbeatable view, this is it—the hotel is located right across from the beautiful lake. Waking up to that scenery every morning was absolute perfection. What I loved: The Service: The staff here are incredible! They are so attentive and genuinely caring, making sure everything is taken care of throughout my stay. Modern Amenities: The room technology is top-tier. I was particularly impressed by the high-tech smart shower and the automated toilet (bidet included!)—it’s the little luxuries that truly elevate the stay. Dining & Convenience: There’s no need to worry about food. The area is surrounded by plenty of local restaurants and street food options, making it super easy to grab a delicious bite anytime. Breakfast: The complimentary breakfast was a lovely touch and a great way to start the day. A Note on Location: The hotel’s lakeside location is gorgeous, but it’s worth noting for future guests that it sits on the opposite side of the lake from some of the main tourist hubs. Depending on traffic, it can take about an hour to drive to those major attractions. However, there are still some great spots to explore on this side of the lake, which are just a convenient 30-40 minute drive away. Overall, if you don't mind a bit of a scenic drive to reach certain landmarks, the comfort, the view, and the stellar service make this place worth every penny. AAnonymous User1. **Check-in Area:** The check-in counter, or front desk, was quite shabby. The computer keyboard was practically caked in grime, and don't even get me started on the sofa next to it – it looked very unhygienic. 2. **Dining:** The breakfast area was a bit cramped, with just four small tables by the street. If you're a party of more than two, you'd have to sit separately, or you might even have to stand and wait for a table. The coffee, however, was good. I only had breakfast once: a cold quinoa salad (see Photo 6) served with bread that had an overpowering artificial creamer flavor. I had been looking forward to the rice noodles for the next day, but serving didn't start until 8:30 AM, which was far too late for my rumbling stomach. Early risers and those who prefer hot meals should seriously consider other options or make alternative arrangements. 3. **Room (2nd floor) - Noise Issues:** Don't even think about getting any sleep at night. After 11 PM, there was still noise along the street, along with the clanging of the garbage truck. (Seriously, I'd strongly advise against staying in the Old Town.) The next day, it started pouring before dawn, and the sound of the heavy rain kept me awake as well. 4. **Room - Facility Issues:** The room I stayed in was supposedly the quietest in the entire hotel. It featured a large bathtub and a bathroom where the toilet and shower area lacked wet/dry separation. Unable to deal with the wet floor, I decided to shower in the bathtub. That's when I discovered Problem #1: the glass partition was completely transparent, with no curtain or frosted glass. The staff member claimed this was 'design.' Then came Fatal Problem #2: the bathtub had no running water, haha! 😄 5. **Room - Odor Issues:** Upon entering, there was a strong musty smell. The staff claimed it was due to 'raw wood,' but it's been 8 years and it still smells like that? Quite amusing. 6. **Staff (Pre-Check-in):** Before I even checked in, they asked me to cancel my booking on the platform and pay them privately for a discounted rate. I have this in writing. This is definitely a huge red flag, and I'm surprised they even dared to suggest it. 7. **Staff (General):** The individuals themselves were nice enough, but I was surprised to find that all the 'Jixiashan' staff were quite young, without uniforms, and seemingly without direct supervision, which gave a very disorganized and casual impression. 8. **Housekeeping:** I was quite satisfied with the housekeeping. Seeing the clean duvet and towels gave me peace of mind (P.S. the pillows were also comfortable). The hotel's facilities are very old; no matter how clean the bathroom tiles were, they still looked run-down, compounded by the dim lighting. Therefore, I feel the housekeeping staff here really have a tough job. 9. **Building Structure:** One morning, during a heavy downpour, when I opened my 2nd-floor room door, the entrance was essentially flooded up to my heels. It was quite a feat that the water didn't spread into the room. At night, there were no lights, so I had to grope my way back to the room along the dark corridor. It would be quite difficult for someone who doesn't remember their way (see Photos 1-2). 10. **Hotel Amenities:** One night, I heard the guest next door return, unable to open their door with the key, and had to call a staff member for help. They chatted for a bit outside the door before the staff member finally told the guest a 'trick': 'The key needs to be inserted a certain way, and the lock has a particular mechanism...' That's quite a struggle – needing a special technique just to get back to your room! 11. **Minor Details:** The room key had a very large, bulky leather tag attached to it. Absolutely no consideration for travelers on long journeys with limited luggage space. Who would want to carry such a bulky thing around? I originally had high hopes for the 'Jixiashan' brand. When I was in Shangri-La, I heard their Meili store had a collaboration with Kolon, which made me think they had good taste. This Dali Ancient City location is their first store, but it turned out to be such a low standard. Given the daily rate, I guess I understand why. This particular store cannot be found on 'Jixiashan's' mini-program; it's categorized under 'Wang Shenme Chuan Qu Le'.

The breakfast provided was also great! It's incredibly convenient for exploring the area too. The location is easy to find, and you can get to Dali Ancient City in just a few minutes. There are also many food options nearby, so you'll be spoiled for choice within a short walk. Renting an electric scooter makes it easy to get anywhere! That's a huge plus! Erhai Lake is simply beautiful! I'll definitely be back again!

GGuest UserThis guesthouse is nestled within the ancient city, making it incredibly convenient for getting around, especially with its proximity to Renmin Road. There are also plenty of shops and businesses nearby. The room was clean and tidy, and I had a very comfortable stay. The lobby on the ground floor has sofas where you can relax and also store your luggage. There's even a fish pond in the courtyard and a washing machine available, which is a great touch. The price is really affordable too – excellent value for money!

GGuest UserThe location is fantastic, with an ecological corridor right outside the door, making it so convenient for morning and evening walks! The room was very quiet, and the breakfast rice noodles were freshly cooked daily. The breakfast they provided was delicious, much better than what you'd get outside. The coffee served with afternoon tea was also fragrant. The front desk guy enthusiastically recommended some off-the-beaten-path trails in Sea Tongue Park and even helped borrow an umbrella on rainy days. Perfect attention to detail!
