The location was excellent, just near Zermatt Bahnhof and easily accessible from most places. The room came with a balcony overlooking the mountains, offering a stunning view — we even watched black neck sheep while enjoying our dinner and coffee.
The stay was comfortable overall, though note that no amenities like toothbrushes or shavers were provided. Breakfast offered a decent spread of continental options with limited hot food, but the croissants were especially commendable.

the location was good. u can see matterhorn clearly but unfortunately there is a big construction crane block some view. On the way to hotel from zermatt station if you follow the google map, it gonna lead u to hard way, very high upslope hill. it will be better if hotel provide u the easy path way to hotel.

A 3 minute walk from the train station right off of the Main Street in Zermatt and a block away from McDonald’s lol. Super clean, super cute room. The bathroom was older but I was fine with it bc it was well maintained and clean. They provided a hot water kettle and cup which I used every morning. They didn’t provide coffee, but the Coop market was down the street so I was able to get the things I needed for breakfast. There is a very mini fridge in the room, big enough for small things. I’m a solo traveler so this room was plenty for me. They do have breakfast from, I believe 7a - 10a. Different types of bread, fruit, yogurts, it’s not an American breakfast so don’t

The hotel's exterior is quite unique! While the rooms aren't spacious, the hotel's thoughtful touches made for a very comfortable stay. The vintage telephone was a charming detail! The front desk staff were incredibly thoughtful, attentive, and enthusiastic in providing information, which was greatly appreciated. My only regret was the restaurant's food. The selection wasn't very varied, and you only got one egg at a time even when specifically ordered. What's more, there were flies, which definitely needs addressing! However, on the plus side, the Matterhorn was directly visible from the restaurant windows!

Its a 10-min walk from the nearest train station. It has a beautiful view from the balcony where u can sit and have a coffee. Spacious room and had a bath tub so its a plus point. The room is clean. I love everything abt this place. Will definitely recommend this to our friends and families

the location is good, located near the cable car up the matterhorn! we were given a room located in the annex building, which you have to go out into the open before assessing (q inconvenient..). there were also limited amenities (no kettle, no soap etc). the breakfast tho.... was worth it! (-: staff from the kitchen was also proactive and helpful!

The room is small and cozy for two people but if there are three people then there is hardly any space to move around after unfolding the sofa bed. So, it’s okay if you plan to stay for 2 nights.
It was interesting that they offered free beverage coupons if you don’t avail housekeeping services.
The receptionist in the evening was very cheerful and jolly for a good conversation to hear about local news.

SStellakwansyStaying at this hotel in Zermatt was an unforgettable experience! The location is perfect—just 500 meters from the train station, making it incredibly convenient. The highlight of my stay was the warm hospitality from the owners, Thor and Michele. They personally served the buffet breakfast every morning, which was both delicious and thoughtfully prepared. On my first day, I unfortunately missed breakfast, but as I was heading out around 10:45 am, they surprised me by reserving some food for me to enjoy before leaving. It was such a thoughtful and touching gesture that truly made me feel cared for.
The room itself was immaculate and had everything I needed. The balcony offered a stunning mountain view, which was a perfect way to start and end each day. Thor and Michele went above and beyond to make me feel like a VIP throughout my stay. They remembered my name, attended to every need, and even took the time to explain the local attractions and recommend food options based on my preferences.
I feel incredibly lucky to have secured two nights at this gem of a hotel, especially since it’s almost always fully booked. This was one of the most personal and heartwarming stays I’ve ever had. If you’re visiting Zermatt, staying here is an absolute must. Thank you, Thor and Michele, for making my trip so memorable!

HHarmonickFor a truly memorable stay in Zermatt, look no further than the Traditional Julen Hotel. We travelled throughout Switzerland, and the view from our Matterhorn room was hands down the best we experienced. Waking up to that iconic peak every morning was simply breathtaking.
The service at the Julen is impeccable. The staff is incredibly accommodating and went above and beyond to meet every need we had, making us feel truly welcome. Speaking of needs, be sure to grab a bite at their downstairs restaurant. The food is excellent, though the space is a little on the cozy (some might say claustrophobic) side. Don't let that deter you, though - the culinary experience is well worth it.
Overall, the Traditional Julen Hotel is a fantastic choice. Splurge on the Matterhorn room for an unforgettable view, and rest assured knowing you'll be taken care of by a truly exceptional team. Highly recommended!

AAnonymous UserThe view is amazing. The service is really great. Someone was very enthusiastic to show me the room. This is the first time I've encountered this in Europe. Although the hotel upgraded the room and there is a large terrace, the building is too low and the view in front is blocked. I don't know if this price is for the first floor. I'm also speechless. But the hotel has three swimming pools and the facilities are great. But the first floor room has a smell. It feels big. It's like the smell of wooden furniture. It's very smelly. Although they helped to deal with it, I didn't want to be sprayed with air freshener again. I didn't feel very comfortable staying for one night. There is a shuttle bus to and from the hotel. When I went there, I forgot that I had walked there. I took a detour and walked for a long time.

The only feedback I have is the room didn’t provide English instructions on how to dial the concierge so I had to walk down to request for items.

Definitely make sure to book a room with a Matterhorn view. The breakfast was generally good, though it could have used a bit more fresh fruit. Plus, having a microwave and water dispenser in the basement was a great perk that helped us save money on bottled water.

GGuest UserKristiane checked us in, and out of the hotel. She's the most attentive person so far that I've met, among the hotels that I have stayed in. Not only that, she got our issues fixed within the day, with a good sense of humour. The hotel breakfast was above average, some selection of cheeses, ham, salami, yoghurt, and drinks dispensed from the machine. I chose this hotel as it was close to Zermatt Bahnhof, and I did not regret it. A relatively new hotel, with a faint smell of wood in the room. The heating in the room can be a wee bit stronger, it means the insulation is good while we tuned down the central heating throughout our stay when the external temp is subzero. It's a gorgeous hotel, I have a narrow window view of the Matterhorn. Not to mention that the hotel is right next to McDonald's and two coffee shops. Overall, it was a splendid experience for us staying at Derby. If you were guessing, this isn't a sponsored review. We were just very happy travellers.

CCham VanessaCheck-in is self-service here, but we must have looked a bit lost or stayed too long in the lobby because a staff member promptly appeared to assist us. The staff are incredibly friendly and polite, making us feel right at home. It's conveniently located about 15 minutes from the train station, and at night, you can see plenty of stars. It offers great value for money, especially considering it's newly renovated. I would definitely return for another stay.

No staff available if u go after 10am and check in time is 3pm.U can store the luggage in the luggage room and come back and check in.The staff at reception was like checking me into military hostel lol.Get ur pillowcase,bedsheet n blanket cover and make it ur own.No curtains in between and its just sleep like side by side.No lift so i left my luggage below and just go up to sleep.Breakfast served at 1st floor. The breakfast was good.
The staff reception can at least smile when check in(especially the guy).This is a hostel i guest its a hospitality. The luggage room should have an instruction to pay the locker and its refunded once the key is returned. I paid to make my own bed and get treated like into military service lol. I bet in future there will be millennial opening new hostel and better service than this.Coz the money we pay is not cheap.

GGuest UserThe location is very good, in the center of the city. The bar is not very noisy at night. The breakfast is quite satisfactory. Except that the hotel is not easy to find. It is on the second floor in a narrow corridor. Everything else is OK. It is worth recommending. After all, Zermatt is relatively expensive.
